One of the simplest ways of creating a web business is to find some good products that are available under license and build a simple website around it.

Now don't think you'll be come independently wealthy with just one product. But by building a number of these products you will enjoy additional income, all without having to do much work. In fact, perhaps the hardest work will be depositing all those checks!

Okay, let me tell you more about this project.

First I was reading one of the many ezines I get during the day and found one of the people who is starting to create new software for sale over the Internet was offering a software package for a low price and was including the master license with it.

The software is simple and does one thing well.

What is this one thing?

It's the thing that so many of us hate and will do anything to avoid.

But the one thing that is very effective when used properly.

It's called "Popups". And the software is called "Popup Generator".

The author is Armand Morin and he was offering his software for just $34.95. And of course you get his 100% Master Resell Rights included at that price.

Plus he also gives you his website code along with the software.

To me that's a pretty good deal.

Why?

Because for just a few dollars you can be in business on the Internet. Sure, you probably won't make many dollars since Armand is basically giving this software away to anyone and everyone. But the beauty is you get to go through the steps to making a profit making website, all for well under $200.

Yes, I'll explain my steps here so you'll see where those costs are. So please read on.

First, let me have you check out my website. I'm not looking for you to buy anything (unless it appeals to you ;-) here. This is really a series of steps showing you how to model what I did to create your own income stream.

Go to http://www.frontiergold.com/popup/ and you'll see my simple one page website. Now remember, I didn't really have to do much here since Armand already gave me the basic web page. I did make some changes through. I simplified some of his comments (about giving this software away at so little cost) and I added that sample Popup in the first paragraph.

Go ahead and click on it and you'll see the type of popup this software will crate for you. It did the popup window as well as provided me with "close" button. Plus I was able to decide where the popup would display and when. In this case you have to click on the link to get the popup.

If you want to create your own web pages you'll need some type of software to make your html pages. I've been through most of the software you can use starting with Notepad all the way to Dreamweaver.

For those just starting out probably the easiest software to create web pages is Microsoft FrontPage. Just about everyone I've seen on the Internet seems to use it. In fact, most Internet Service Providers (those people who host your web pages) include the FrontPage Extensions for no increase in costs.

Okay. Next I want to tell you about how to get on the Internet without going broke. This information is really for those who don't have a website yet but even experience users might find useful information here.

Right now I'm using Feature Price as my ISP (Internet Service Provider) because they allow me unlimited space on their site along with six different domains, all for just $24.95 a month. You can get more information about them at http://www.featureprice.com .

But I believe this price is a bit much for those just getting started. So I'd suggest you look into Host Save. They have a price of only $6.95 per month. That's less than $84 a year. You can get more information at http://www.hostsave.com .

I know there are a number of ISPs out there eager to take your money. All you need to do is find those who offer the services you need for the price you want to spend.

Oh, by the way, you'll want to have a web domain name too. With Feature Price they will give me one free domain listing with my $24.95 account. But I have found the best way of getting your own domain name is to go to Active Domain at http://active-domain.com . You can register your domain name for $9.95 a year.

The next step was to create a way of taking orders. Today on the Internet there are so many ways of taking money that it's really easy to start a "store".

I've looked at them all (well, mostly) and decided on using ClickBank. They charge you a setup fee ($49.95) and then only charge you for each sale ($1 + 7.5% of the sale). That beats having to make monthly service charges even though you may not have any sales. On one of my merchant accounts I have to sell over $1000 to be over the monthly service charge.

The nice thing about ClickBank is that you also get a free affiliate program for your products. You decide how much to offer your affiliates (up to 50%) and they handle the entire process. All you do is announce your affiliate program on your site and you don't even have to worry about paying your affiliates since Click Bank does it for you.

They send you a check twice a month for any sales you've made on your site. And you can sell a number of items with your membership.

Plus you don't have to have a credit card merchant account to be taking credit card sales on the Internet. The only limit is that your products have to be delivered over the Internet electronically.

And they check! To go live I had to create my links and then asked them to "raise" my credit limit. I got the following email back from ClickBank's real people:

" Bob,

The download link on your thank you page brings up a "page not found" error. Please let me know when it is fixed. Also, please add your contact email address to your thank you page.

Thank you,"

I then fixed my problems and got the following back when I resubmitted my request:

" Bob,

Your limit has been raised. To start making sales right away simply login to your account, activate it, then set your price to the desired amount.

Please take a moment to read some important information about how to verify your orders and how to protect your ClickBank account.

Also, you'll find you get a number of different methods of taking money from your customers. I haven't been taking Discover Card on my merchant accounts but with this account I can take that card.

Okay, today you've learned how to easily get on the Internet and "make money". While I don't expect this project to make much money, the important thing is doing something that builds on your future.

Until I did this step I hadn't used ClickBank or for that matter actually had a one page website selling a product. For those reading our Web Business Building series, http://www.profitproducer.com/members/department15.cfm , this is a first step at actually getting ready to take that project active.

Now let me recap and see just how much this effort took to get off the ground for someone who doesn't have a website (first time):

Product License: $34.95 Domain Name: $9.95 ISP: $83.40 (for year) ClickBank membership: $49.95

Total cost of actually having a moneymaking presence on the Internet is only $178.25.

Imagine what other business you could get into for that price!

And remember, once you have those fixed costs paid ($143.30) you could add additional products for just the cost of those licensees.

I've seen products going for less than $20 (including the license) so you could have a number of products on the Internet.

Is this the way to build a business? Yes! Because it gets you started. And nothing is better at overcoming inertia than ACTION!
