Most of us find that information publishing on the Internet gives us exceptional return on our investment. But have you ever considered how to go about getting that information product?

Basically, there are three ways of finding the information products that you can offer on the Internet. They are:

  • Buy the rights to someone else's work

  • Hire a ghost writer to do the writing

  • Write yourself

Let's look at each and see what would work for you.

Buy the rights

Today if you spend time on the Internet you'll quickly find a number of "how-to" ebooks available. And many come with the rights to sell them yourself.

But what does that mean?

First off, since you've seen these ebooks offered, just how many others are looking at that offer too? That means there are hundreds (or thousands) trying to sell those same books on the Internet. Who is making any money with this? Usually the original author. They have imbedded links in their books that return money to the author.

Second, you have no control of who else can be offering these ebooks. Others can charge the same amount as you, or they can go higher or lower. Or they can give the ebooks away.

Perhaps the only time you want to consider buying the rights to written (or other) material is when there is a definite limit as to how many others will have the resale rights. But still, you have no control of how others will market the material.

Ghost writer

For those of you who don't think you can write, this might be the easiest way of getting some material done. Certainly is far easier than doing the writing yourself. Or is it?

Remember, you still need to define the results. One way that others have found successful is to tape record the material you already know and want to include in your masterpiece.

Now have your ghost writer take the tape recording and organize it into something that makes sense.

With a ghost writer you have to define what you want. The better the definition the better the end product.

If you let the ghost writer write without direction, then you get to pay for all the rewrites that it takes to get the final product you want.

You can find ghost writers in the magazine Writers World or at www.eLance.com.

Write it yourself

The one person who has the passion to make a worthwhile information product is... YOURSELF!

I know how hard it is to consider that your writing might be worthwhile. And at first it probably won't!

But just like in anything that is useful, practice makes it better.

Today technology has come to your aid.

You can use a simple voice recorder and just talk through what you want to tell someone.

It might help if you actually take a friend and tell them how to accomplish what your material will be about. Record that without letting the recorder be too noticeable.

Why?

Because if you're like most of us, you'll probably get tongue tied with the recorder stuck in front of your face.

My recorder is the Sony IC Recorder ICD-MS1.

There are two nice things with this recorder:

  • it really can record using the Voice Actuated Recording without missing any of your words

  • it comes with Dragon Naturally Speaking

What is Dragon Naturally Speaking? It actually transcribes your voice into real text. So you can talk and later let your computer transcribe your material.

Or you can have someone take your text and transcribe it for your. One suggestion is www.eLance.com

If you were to ask me which way should you proceed with your information publishing career, I'd say to write yourself. Your final products will be better that way.
