Want To Be A Movie Star?
Bob Chambers

Many of us dream of living like a movie star but just how many of us really think we have a chance to even get close to their lifestyle? Well, I have news for you.

The only reason you can't is how you think.

A few years ago a friend, Ken Roberts, showed me how movie stars are really teachers. In fact, he wrote a book called "The Hollywood Principle" with a subtitle "How to Use the 'Magic' of Movies to Make Your Dreams Come True".

In his book Ken shows the various movies and the lessons we're taught in them. Not too surprising when you consider the Indians of the Southwest have used performances to teach their young people for years.

Well, now consider the differences between our teachers and those movie stars. Both teach.

  • But movie stars make lots of money while teachers make little money.
  • Movie stars are famous while teachers are not (except in their own locality).
  • Movie stars have fun working while many teachers don't
  • Movie stars have great working conditions while many teachers work in slums

Why the differences?

Because movie stars have learned to multiply their selves but teachers work teaching one class at a time.

By the way, I grew up in Burbank, California, just outside of Hollywood. Burbank has a number of movie studios there but Hollywood had the name. So I've met lots of movie people.

One of my friends is retired from the Directors Guild of America. Among many of the movies and television programs he worked on, he was the Assistant Director of the famous M*A*S*H* series.

Now there probably isn't a day in the world where M*A*S*H* isn't playing on some local television station.

And my friend gets a check for each of those sequences played. Yes, they only send him a check each quarter or so, but he's still making money for the work he did years ago.

How about that for multiplying yourself? And remember, my Director friend never even appeared on camera!

That?s what it's like to be a movie star.

Most of us are the teachers in life. We work by the hour and take home that hour's worth of money. But what if we decide to work once and then reap the benefits of our work many times, just like a movie star?

It's easy if you produce information products. You write it once (or teach it once) and then sell it to many people. And that gives you the time to come up with more information products to multiply yourself even more. After a while, you'll be living like a movie star.

Don't think this only applies to written material. Another friend, Barb Besteni (who got me into video production) says it applies to video too. She calls it Special Interest Videos or SIV for short.

And you can use other medias too, like audio, MP3, DVDs, CDs, etc.

The main thing is to produce something that you do (or teach) once and then multiply yourself by selling it many times.

Sure beats being an hourly working teacher.
