Want to Create a PDF eBook Without the Cost of Acrobat?

Printer-Friendly Format

Important decisions you must make when you're creating ebooks is what type of format are you going to use. Many choices are available today... perhaps too many. And to make it even harder to choose, many of the various e-book editors are being touted by others on the Internet... because of affiliate programs.

I know I got one html compiler program that was supposed to be the best one around. And sure enough, the company had an affiliate program. I joined before I actually used their software.

But when I tried to compile my ebook, The World's Perfect Business, I found the results weren't what I expected. Also, the final file has an .EXE name to it.

Now, just why don't you want a file with .exe attached?

First, you'll find that the people with Mac computers can't open those files. So if you want to sell to Mac owners you've got to use PDF.

Why sell to Mac owners? After all, they only make up less than 10% of all computer owners.

Except in the business world you'll find the percentage of Mac owners is much higher. I guess there just aren't too many games for the Mac. So they only are concerned with making money with their computers.

Anyway, you don't want to shut out any potential customers, so you'll have to make your ebooks available in PDF format for your Mac users. Why not just make one file. You'll find when you update it's far easier to update one file rather than two.

The next reason is that you can hide viruses in .EXE files while you can't hide a virus in a PDF file.

Which means that many people, and just about all companies, won't download an .EXE file from the Internet.

And the reason you want to create ebooks is so you can provide your customers instant fulfillment via the Internet.

The bottom line... use the PDF format for your ebooks.

Now, what about the cost of creating PDF Files?

Adobe Acrobat is expensive. Is there an alternate?

Yes.

Global Graphics' Jaws PDF Creator 2.0 furnishes many of Adobe Acrobat's tools in an inexpensive alternative.

It allows you to render your files into the PDF 1.3 format and also allows you to review, exchange, mark up, manage, and archive documents.

Jaws PDF Creator 2.0 is priced at $120 for a single user version. They have both a Mac and Windows version and you can try it out before you buy at their web site.
